- The USGenWeb Project - A volunteer project to create sites for every US State and County. Free, but quality and quantity varies widely from site to site. Sites may have local histories, original county boundaries, query boards and more.
- Social Security Death Index (SSDI) - The SSDI contains basic information (Birth, Death, Last Residence, Last Benefit, Where Issued, and SSN) about persons with Social Security numbers whose deaths have been reported to the Social Security Administration. The Social Security Act was signed in Aug 1935.

Local Genealogical Links:
- Minnesota Historical Society - (Located in the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul.) Contains history, census, newspapers, land and other records, primarily of Minnesota, in genealogy reference and reading rooms.
- Minnesota Historical Society, Death Certificate Index - Online index of death certificates from 1907 (index only). (Actual death certificates are recorded on microfilm rolls; See FAQ page to order a certified copy or how to view the microfilm and make your own copy.)
- Minnesota Genealogical Society - A non-profit, educational organization. Their library is staffed by volunteers and contains 10,000 volumes that complement other libraries. Several ethnic and special interest branches have been formed.
- St. Cloud, MN, Daily Times Newspaper Index - News articles and obituaries from 1928 to present year (index only). (If you want to read the articles indexed at this site, check with your local library for availability.)
